The Rattle & Rust Rally is a long weekend of grit, gears, noise and nostalgia — a celebration of the vehicles that shaped our farms, our families and our South African stories. It’s the kind of experience that wakes up your inner 12-year-old… the one who still wants to shout “Start her up!” and hit the gravel running.
It’s a weekend where people of all ages come together: Families, Groups of friends, Car enthusiasts, Adventure lovers, young ones who want to see how things were “back in the day” and anyone who appreciates a vehicle with character. Everyone is welcome — vrouens, kinders, tannies, ooms, die hele span.
This is a family event with a warm Garden Route heartbeat. Camping at Bartelsfontein Farm bring families into the lively spirit of the Rattle and Rust Rally.

The farm becomes a symphony of growls, bangs, clatters, rattles and pure mechanical poetry across the Oval Track, Rally Run, Drag Strip, Gymkhana and Donut Zone. Friday and Saturday offer free access for spectators.

Yes. The Rally is proudly family-friendly. Women and children are welcome, and the event is designed so families can enjoy the full weekend together and relaxed evenings around the fire.

No. The Rattle & Rust Rally is not a time-based race. It is a structured rally experience focused on fun, navigation, skill and participation.
Yes. Safety is a priority.
- Alcohol testing will be conducted for drivers
- Marshalls will be stationed at activity areas
- Road rules must be followed at all times
- Reckless or dangerous behaviour may result in disqualification
Yes. Visitors are welcome on Friday and Saturday, and entry for visitors is free.
Yes. Food stalls will be available throughout the weekend for breakfasts and lunches. Braaipakke are provided for participants, with additional packs available for purchase. A cash bar will also be available.
